Location: Stockholm-Täby/Arninge (with possible travel)
Duration: 7–9 weeks (Summer 2025, starting June)
Application deadline: April 30
Latronix is offering two summer internships to build and test a railway-related measurement system. You’ll take the project from lab setup to field deployment — working hands-on with both hardware and software to develop a fully functional proof-of-concept.
The system is designed to record and analyze how railway vehicles respond to the track — data that can be used to assess ride quality, vehicle dynamics, or track condition. The sensors and components have already been selected; your work will focus on integrating them into a working system, automating data collection, and analyzing the results.
You’ll run the project together with another intern, with mentoring and regular reviews from our engineering team. While you’ll get support when needed, the goal is for you to develop an independent application tailored to this specific task — without being constrained by existing system architecture or internal processes.
Mechanical / Railway Engineering Intern
Focus on planning the measurement setup and analyzing the results. You’ll work with both the physical installation and the data collected — and you’ll implement your analysis and processing in code.
What you’ll do:
- Plan and support the installation of sensors on test vehicles
- Analyze collected measurement data using scripted tools
- Review relevant railway standards and test methods
- Assist with mounting and deployment as needed
You might be:
- A student in Mechanical Engineering, Railway Engineering, or Vehicle Engineering
- Interested in vehicle dynamics, measurement systems, and data analysis
- Comfortable writing code for processing and interpreting measurement results (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
- Happy to work both with hardware and software in a testing environment
Software Engineering Intern
Take the lead on connecting the components into a working system. You’ll build the user interface, handle communication with sensors, and automate the measurement process — with a focus on structured, maintainable code.
What you’ll do:
- Develop a simple, usable UI for system control and data capture
- Handle communication with sensors and data acquisition units
- Combine and synchronize data streams
- Automate the full measurement process from setup to logging
- Document your work to support future development
You might be:
- A student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Embedded Systems, or Electrical Engineering (with an interest in programming and automation).
- Skilled in Python, MATLAB, or similar — and value clean, maintainable code
- Familiar with version control, basic hardware integration, and UI development
- Interested in real-world measurement systems and automation
Common for both roles
- Paid internship.
- We think you are just finishing your third or fourth year. However, ambitions second-year students with prior relevant experience are also welcome to apply.
- You’ll work independently, with mentoring from our team
- 1–2 weeks of field testing abroad is expected. (Latronix covers all travel, accommodation, and per diem costs). When not travelling, at least 80% of your work time should be spent at our office in Arninge.
- You’ll get hands-on experience in a real-world project with clear goals and practical impact¨
